Kingscote Barn Wedding Photography - Jay + Lucy

Jay & Lucy chose to get married at the lovely Kingscote Barn.  The weather was hot and sunny which perfectly fitted their plans for an outdoor ceremony at the Linhay and the Thatchers themed wedding was given an extra boost by the addition of surprise singing waiters later in the afternoon; that certainly made for a couple of interesting photographs! The warm summers evening was rounded off with a DJ which certainly got the party going!

We went to the same school but didn’t really know each other as we were in separate year groups. We then had an awkward encounter at Glastonbury festival which put us on each other’s radars in 2015, and then were in the same nightclub in 2016 and we’re set up by a mutual friend! We went on our first date a few days later and the rest is history!

Where was the proposal? Jay booked a pagoda at a 5 star restaurant on the seafront whilst we were on holiday in Rhodes. He proposed while the sun set and then we had a lovely 5 star tasting menu.

What were you most excited for on your wedding day? The party! There’s nothing we love more than having a laugh and a good party with our friends and family, so that’s what we were looking forward to the most. We booked singing waiters as a surprise for all the guests to get things kicked off as soon as the food was finished!

Why did you choose that venue? The outside setting is incredible at Kingscote Barn. The lush lawn and Linhay overlooking the rolling hills and wildlife is just beautiful. When we viewed it we just knew it was the place we wanted to have our ceremony, so we were so buzzing when it was confirmed the weather was going to be good and we could get married outside. The rest of the venue is also fantastic, with lots of onsite accommodation for our guests which was also really important for us.

What were your favourite parts of the day? Unexpectedly the ceremony was one of our favourite parts of the day. We’d been so preoccupied planning everything else, that we had almost forgot about the most important part and so it surprised us both how special it was for us. The singing waiters were also outstanding and had everyone up on their seats singing their hearts out which are memories that we will cherish forever.

Any other tips for future couples? Everyone says it, but the day goes so fast so just try to take everything in and be in every moment. Try not to stress about the logistics on the day as everyone will be having an amazing time and the little details or timing slips will not matter, so trust the wedding coordinator and caterers do the worrying for you. It’s also good to prep your Groomsman and Bridesmaids to do some of the running around for you (such as organising people for photos etc). They can share the job between them as there are more of them and it takes the stress off of you worrying about doing it so you can spend more time with the guests.
